We finished up the applications for 3 festivals today. We have now applied to Summer Shade festival at Grant Park, the Jug Tavern Festival in Winder GA, and Shady Days in Gay in Gay GA. We are still waiting for acceptance so keep your fingers crossed, but who wouldn’t want some delish wood-fired pizza at their event. We also plan on doing the Atlanta Arts Festival at Piedmont Park, and we are currently working on our application but have not finished it yet. Also due to the upfront money needed to enter we haven’t fully decided on whether that event will be right for us. This will complete our public schedule for 2010. Go ahead and stay on the edge of your seats until we are accepted then plan on seeing us there to enjoy year 1 of S & J's Woodfired Pizza.
Can YOU Hear ME Now
We are Sarah and Jonathan of S and J’s Woodfired Pizza. This business is going to be awesome. It’s the brain child of loving pizza, eating together as a “clan” and being outdoors. Both Sarah and I have grown into hating our jobs, hating to go to work and hating to not be our own boss. Sarah and I love pizza, love being our own boss and love being in control of our lives. We don’t need THE MAN. Do you? So, S & J's Woodfired Pizza took form.
If You Wanted More
Our “clan” consists of 2 adults, 1 child, 1 dog, and three cats.
These days we spend as much time as possible at home enjoying the simpler things and trying to take life slow. Sarah and I like taking my (joyful, curious, hysterical, adorable, and extremely active) 2-yr-old son, Grayson, on nature walks, and spending long afternoons relaxing in the sun is high up there on the priority list. Cooking dinner at home is a nightly tradition.
I am the chef of the house (yeah… we’re not much for tradition) and Italian night is always the favorite. Along with Italian, we love mexican fiesta night, who doesn’t love a delish margarita, but our real passion is pizza and pasta. When I’m not cooking, I love to kick it at The Drayton, our pool, play playstation and wii, enjoy a delish beer and watch my son, Gman, get into anything and everything.
When Sarah isn’t helping me watch Grayson, she loves photography and scrapbooking. You would think that she single handley keeps hobby lobby in business. As an avid scrapbooker and budding photographer, she has colored the walls of our house from top to bottom. Although not much of a cook, Sarah can toss a pizza like nobodys business and isnt afriad to get her hands dirty in the kitchen and help me out whenever she can.
Grayson on the other hand is the oppsoite of help. If he isn’t plucking unripe tomatoes from my plants in the backyard, he is pushing his Lightning Mcqueen truck around the house. He loves to be outside running around, walking on hiking trails, in the pool or watching the dvd Cars. With the foundation set, I’ll add a little more for each of you fans every so often so you can keep up with the whole lives of S & J's Woodfired Pizza. We are more than a business and you will catch that here.
Bringing You Up to Speed
To get everyone up to speed, as of 5/1/2010, Sarah and I have become an LLC with the registered name of S & J's Woodfired Pizza, sorry copycats can’t beat the original. We have been accepted to one festival but had to back out because our wood-fired oven wouldn’t be ready in time, scheduled a hands on workshop with a possible oven vendor in Boulder CO, started working on our website, arranged kitchen rental space, bought a pizza prep table, started working on our website, narrowed down our wood-fired oven vendors to two (Good Luck you two), started working on our appilications for fall festivals (dates to be released shortly) and started our blog. It will be your minds, hearts, taste buds and bellies that will be tantalized by our story and taste of the best wood-fired pizza, EVER.
How S & J’s Woodfired Pizza Started
We value good food and time shared together. Our love for pizza, simple pleasures, and the outdoors is what has drawn us into the mobile pizza business. We have talked about opening a pizza restaurant for what has been years now. First as friends, we began to conceive of this dream. Now as our “clan” moves into the next phase of our lives, we have decided to take the plunge.
We enjoy homemade pizza at least once a week. Jonathan makes the dough and sauce from scratch and lets it rise before Sarah tosses it into hot, crisp, tasty “za’s” of their choosing. We love pizza because it can be totally different each time… whether it be Jonathan’s favorite of hot Italian sausage and pepperoni or Sarah’s preference for pesto with lots of onions, there is something for everyone. It is our belief that food, family, and passion all go together, and what better place to experience this harmony than outside enjoying nature. The wood-fired experience that we provide will combine all these elements together into one delicious pizza.
Give us a call or shoot us an email to find out how we can make your next party a HUGE success.
Thanks for visiting!
